Africa Storytelling Circle

Together, we can shape the narrative of an entire continent.
For centuries, our powerful stories have gone untold, misrepresented, or lost in translation while traditional storytellers lack platforms to preserve oral history for future generations. Griots, writers, and artists face limited access to audiences and recognition. The result? Our stories fade into the shadows, replaced by voices that don’t truly understand our heritage. The African Storytelling Circle (ASC) is here to change that.

Why ASC Exists
We are building a thriving pan-African community dedicated to:

  • Preserving indigenous knowledge and narratives.
  • Taking African oral stories to global stages.
  • Leadership Learnings from Africa Uninterrupted.

When you join ASC, you gain:

  • Emotional benefits such as identity, connection, and recognition
  • Intellectual growth through learning and a sense of pride.
  • Applicable value with real-life relevance and practical application.

We envision an Africa where

Every story is valued from village folktales to modern-day documentaries. African voices lead global conversations about Africa. Storytelling drives social change, inspires communities, and fuels cultural pride. The ASC is where this vision becomes reality — one storyteller, one project, one connection at a time.

Who can join the African Storytelling Circle (ASC)?

ASC is open to anyone passionate about African stories, culture, and heritage. From griots, writers, filmmakers, and educators, to students, researchers, cultural enthusiasts, and community leaders. Whether you are a seasoned storyteller or simply curious about African heritage, there is a place for you here.

Do I need to be African to become a member?

Not at all. While our focus is on preserving and celebrating African heritage, ASC welcomes members from across the globe who believe in the power of authentic African storytelling. If you care about Africa’s narratives and want to be part of amplifying them, you belong here.

What makes ASC different from other cultural or storytelling groups?

Unlike generic cultural platforms, ASC is a structured year-round program combining weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual activities. From storytelling performances and leadership learnings to heritage marketplaces and the annual African Storytelling Summit, ASC provides hands-on, immersive experiences that both preserve Africa’s heritage and equip members to share it authentically.

What do I gain as a member beyond storytelling?

Membership is more than listening to stories, it’s about identity, healing, and growth. You’ll deepen your connection to African heritage, gain leadership lessons from Africa Uninterrupted, connect with a powerful pan-African community, and even have opportunities to share your own stories. Plus, you will access exclusive resources, events, and recognition that amplify your voice.

How does the membership work if I cannot attend all the activities live?

All ASC sessions are designed to be flexible and accessible. If you cannot join live, you will receive recordings, summaries, and beautifully designed badges of attendance for monthly sessions. That way, you can learn, reflect, and stay engaged at your own pace without missing out on the full benefits of your membership.
